I allow comments because I hold out hope that someday, someone other than me will have something interesting to say. As for what happens with them...um. They sit around. Sometimes they listen to 50 Cent and get thugged out.

Given I've only heard The Streets stuff once, but what's the DEAL? I thought it was completely boring. Sounded like somewhat keen electro doused with run of the mill lyricism. Better than today's standard HipHop, but that's like saying it's better than sticking size 12 Nikes up your ass.

Look, the music, itself, is not much. The loops are simple and they don't change much. And Mike Skinner isn't about to win a freestyle battle with...anyone. It's all about the personality. I feel like I know this guy. I don't even know if I'd like him, but I empathize with him, and the things he raps about I can relate to. Drunk with your friends on the train, or trying to figure out if you should call that girl from last night, or after the party, watching the sun come up from your couch surrounded by your passed-out friends... He talks about it, and he makes it seem funny, and real, at the same time he's hinting that there's more to life, that some things are serious. Plus, listening to his music makes me want to get drunk.

I can shovel it. I've heard similar things about his straightshooter approach and I appreciate the feeling. Alas. I think, in my grand superficiality, I tend to go for the aesthetically pleasing before I go for the communication aspect. Like, I'd rather listen to a pretty instrumental than a good story or insightful message set to boring music. But aaah, yes. All good music must inspire the vine.

darling, everything makes you want to get drunk. except me; baby, why won't you drink with me? mike skinner's going to be at bimbo's in SF the week before he hits your coast - ha ha, i get to bed him first. as for his appeal, it's rooted in the titillating idea of a geezer from brixton simply spitting about his life and forcing the world to dance in response. note that he's a god in much of northern england right now. i'm calling it "my big fat freestyle wedding".

His voice was gone. I guess he's been on tour for a while. I can't imagine what the show would have been like had I not known all the tracks by heart. Still, I had a blast. One of the best shows ever.
